Photographs make me pause.

Occasionally,  I come across a photo that I end up staring at for a while. Not just because it looks pretty, but because it makes me wonder - how did someone manage to take that shot? Was it serendipity - a chance encounter frozen in time by a conveniently placed camera? Or was it a labor of intention - a person envisioning a frame, and then doing everything in their power to make it a reality?

Exploring both approaches has made me travel to places which I couldn't have pointed out on a map, make friends out of people who didn't share a common language, do things which I didn't know I could do (physically or legally), amass a ton of stories and have way too much fun. The vision of the photograph motivated all of it, but it always ended up being bested by the journey to it.

Photographs make me pause. They move me.
